Checking for Updates
How Dinezo keeps itself up to date on Windows, and how to check or install an update yourself.

How it works automatically
Dinezo checks for a new version every time it starts, and again every 6 hours while it's running — you don't need to do anything for this. If a new version is available, a small Update Available badge appears in the top bar (or the menu, on the touch-friendly layout). Tap it to see what changed and install it.
Checking manually
- Open Settings → Updates
- Your current version is shown at the top. If you're already on the latest one, you'll see a confirmation there instead of an update.
- Click Check for Updates to check right away, instead of waiting for the next automatic check.
Installing an update
When a new version is available — whether you found it through Settings or the top-bar badge — click Update Now. You'll see one confirmation first, explaining what's about to happen, before anything downloads or installs:
- Dinezo downloads the new version in the background, with a progress indicator
- It verifies the download is genuine and untampered before doing anything else
- Dinezo closes itself automatically to install the update — this is the one thing worth planning around
- Once installed, Dinezo reopens on its own
Finish what you're doing first. Since installing closes the app, settle any active orders or finish printing a receipt before clicking Update Now. Nothing already saved is at risk either way — Dinezo saves as you go, not just on close — but a mid-update restart is still a better time to start it than the middle of a checkout.
“Update Available” vs. “Update Required”
Most updates are optional — you can dismiss the prompt and it won't ask again until the next time you launch Dinezo, or until a newer version comes along. Occasionally an update is marked required instead — this only happens for something that genuinely can't wait, like a security or data-safety fix. A required update can't be dismissed, and installs the same way described above.
Troubleshooting
I don't see an update, but I think there should be one
Click Check for Updates in Settings → Updates to check immediately rather than waiting for the automatic 6-hour check. If it still shows you're up to date, you already have the newest version available to your account.
The app didn't reopen after updating
Open Dinezo from the Start Menu or your desktop shortcut as normal — the update itself already completed successfully; it just needs one manual launch this time.
