Billing & Checkout
How orders move from the table to the kitchen to a completed, compliant receipt.
Last updated: 14 August 2026
Order types
- Dine-in — assigned to a table, tracked on the floor dashboard until it's settled
- Takeaway — not tied to a table, for counter or pickup orders
- QR self-order — customers scan a table QR code and order directly from their phone over your restaurant's WiFi, straight into the same order queue
Building an order
Add items from the menu, adjust quantities, and attach notes per item where needed (spice level, substitutions, and so on). Active orders are unlimited on every plan — there's no cap on how many tables or takeaway orders you can have open at once.
Kitchen order tickets (KOT)
Sending an order to the kitchen prints a KOT — a ticket with just the items and quantities, no pricing, business logo, or tax details. It's a separate document from the customer receipt, printed on whichever printer you've assigned to the kitchen.
Checkout
When a table or order is ready to settle, checkout shows:
- The order breakdown — subtotal, discount, service charge, GST, and round-off
- The final total due
- Payment method selection
Payment methods
Cash, UPI, Card, Wallet, and Bank Transfer are all supported. A single bill can be split across multiple methods — for example, part cash and part UPI — and Dinezo reconciles the total live, showing exactly what's been paid, what's short, or what's over.
For cash payments, a built-in calculator has quick denomination buttons and works out change due automatically. For UPI, a scan-to-pay QR code is generated using your configured UPI ID.
Discounts and service charge
Apply a discount by percentage or a fixed amount, and an optional service charge, before the final total is calculated. Both appear as separate line items in the breakdown and on the printed receipt.
GST
If GST is enabled in your business settings, it's calculated automatically at your configured rate and itemized separately in the checkout breakdown and on the receipt, alongside your GSTIN.
Receipts
Once a checkout is complete, a receipt can go out in any of these forms:
- Printed on a thermal printer — customer receipt, tax invoice, or both
- A PDF invoice, for email or digital record-keeping
- Sent directly to the customer over WhatsApp
Every format includes your business name, tagline, address, phone, GSTIN, and FSSAI number (where set), plus your business logo if you've added one on that device.
The free-tier checkout limit
After your 7-day trial, the free plan caps you at 50 completed checkouts per calendar month. Menu items and active orders are never capped, on any plan — you can keep building orders freely; the limit only applies when a checkout is completed. Premium (₹149/month) removes the cap entirely.
